We know that you care about how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will use that information carefully and sensibly in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Information provided through Beactivekids.org is monitored by Be Active North Carolina, Inc. in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation.

Privacy of Children
Protecting the privacy of children is especially important to us. For that reason, Beactivekids.org does not knowingly allow anyone under the age of 13 to register for the site or provide us with any personally identifying information. In no other way do we knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information on Beactivekids.org from persons under 13 years of age. If Beactivekids.org learns that personally identifiable information of persons under 13 years of age has been collected, then Beactivekids.org will take the appropriate steps to delete this information. If you are under the age of 13, please do not attempt to register to use this site.
Because of the nature of this site, activities involving children, or a specific child, may be the topics of postings and comments on Beactivekids.org, and photographs posted on the site by parents or other community members may include images of children. Please respect the privacy of these children by not providing personal information about any child on the site unless you are the child's parent or guardian or have the explicit consent of the child, parent or guardian. In any event, never use the site to demean children or a specific child in any way.
Information Collection and Use by Beactivekids.org
The information we collect falls into two categories: (1) user-provided personal information such as information that you provide to us when you register to use our Web site, and (2) certain anonymous information that we collect as you navigate through the Beactivekids.org pages. You also provide personal information when choosing to participate in various activities on Beactivekids.org such as uploading videos, photos, artwork, posting messages on our site, entering contests or sweepstakes, responding to surveys, or subscribing to newsletters or other mailing lists. Below is a description of each type of information we collect and how we use it:
Registration Information. Anyone may visit Beactivekids.org and read its contents, but only registered users may post information or comments or use certain Beactivekids.org services. Be Active Kids trainer registration is limited to those individuals that have already been trained in the Be Active Kids program by an approved member of Be Active North Carolina, Inc. Registration information for these trainers are provided at training sessions or through individual contact with Be Active North Carolina. At this time, Blog users are limited to current Be Active Kids trainers and child care providers only and login information is obtained with registration as a trainer or provider. The child care provider registration process requires that you provide the following information: username, first and last name, email address, job title, age and number of children you work with, and the name of the facility where you work. We use this information to create a unique registration profile for you, to communicate with you regarding your registration, and to verify that you are not under the age of 13. Users who wish to comment will be required to supply a valid email address. Once registered, we also may ask you to provide additional information such as your shipping and mailing addresses, telephone numbers, fax number, and certain demographic information. This information will help us to better understand our audience and allow for better communication and support. Once you register with Beactivekids.org and sign in to our site, you are not anonymous to us, though you may use an assumed member name when posting to the site if you'd prefer to remain anonymous to other members of the Be Active Kids community and other visitors to the site.
Your E-mail Address Required. We require you to provide your e-mail address as part of the registration process. We may use your e-mail address to send you administrative e-mails from time to time containing announcements and communications regarding the Beactivekids.org service. If you do not wish to receive administrative e-mails from us, please do not register to use our site. We will not share your e-mail address with our third-party advertisers, though we may send you advertising materials on their behalf. In the future you may have an option to receive newsletters from Be Active North Carolina, Inc. and/or Be Active Kids. You will be asked to select this option and maintain your subscription via email contact.
Browser-Level Information. When you visit Beactivekid.org, our web server automatically collects limited information about your computer configuration, such as the type of browser software you use and the operating system you're running and your IP address. So Beactivekids.org does log non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, browser type, browser language, referring / exit pages and URLs, platform type, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and the order of those pages, the amount of time spent on particular pages, from users and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to members. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes. We use this information to make our site as useful as we can for as many users as possible.
Cookies
Cookies, which are small text files recorded in a user's hard drive, are employed by thousands of sites to enhance user's Web viewing experience. Cookies cannot damage user files, nor can they read information from a user's hard drive. Be Active North Carolina, Inc. and Beactivekids.org will not rent, sell, or share your personal information with unaffiliated companies or people except (1) as necessary to provide you with products or services you've requested, (2) when we have your permission, or (3) as follows:
- We may disclose your personal information to trusted partners who work on behalf of Beactivekids.org under confidentiality agreements. These companies may use your personal information to help us serve you. However, these companies are not allowed to share this information or to use it for their own purposes.
- We may disclose your personal information to conform to legal requirements or to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other legal process received by beactivekids.org, whether or not a response is required by applicable law.
- We may disclose your personal information to enforce our Beactivekids.org Terms of Use Agreement, or to protect the rights, property or safety of members of the Be Active Kids community, other visitors to our site, our advertisers and other customers, the public, or Be Active North Carolina, Inc. and its employees.
- As our business grows, we may buy or sell various assets. In the event that Beactivekids.org or some or all of our assets are acquired by another company, information about our users may be among the transferred assets.
Promotions, Contests and Sweepstakes
From time to time, Be Active Kids or a partner, may sponsor a promotion or contest on Beactivekids.org. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate. We may transfer personal information to certain ad partners that you have explicitly requested to receive information from. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply.
Making Changes To Your Personal Information
You can edit your Beactivekids.org registration information, including your e-mail address, shipping and mailing addresses, work location, and telephone numbers at any time by going to the Monitor Profile page in the appropriate log-n area (trainer or provider). It is important to keep this information up-to-date and ensure that all information provided is accurate. You will be unable to delete your Beactivekids.org registration online. If you request that your personal information be removed from the Be Active Kids database you will need to contact a Be Active kids staff member at Be Active North Carolina, Inc.
Trainers will have the options to schedule and edit Be Active Kids provider training sessions, order Be Active Kids Kits, search for child care facilities across North Carolina, and manage their reward points. Providers will have the options to search for Be Active Kids trainers, manage their reward points and complete program surveys and evaluations. Links To Other Sites
Be Active North Carolina, Inc., and users who post information on Beactivekids.org, may provide links to third-party Web sites whose privacy policies we do not control. When you access another site, use of any information you provide is governed by the Privacy Policy of the operator of the site you're visiting. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on Beactivekids.org.
Archiving and Storage
All Beactivekids.org postings may be stored in our database, even after deletion from the site. Our web logs and other records may be stored indefinitely. In addition, search engines and other sites not affiliated with Beactivekids.org may cache or archive postings from Beactivekids.org, and may make such postings available for viewing on their sites. (For example, some search engines take a snapshot of each web page examined by the search engine as it crawls the web, and may cache these pages as a backup in case the original page is unavailable. Search engine users can view the cached pages simply by clicking on the "cached" link.) We have no control over this.

Be Active North Carolina, Inc. has taken steps to protect the confidentiality of the personal information it collects from members of the Be Active Kids community. Information we gather on Beactivekids.org is stored within Be Active North Carolina, Inc.-controlled databases (or databases hosted on our behalf) on servers maintained in protected environments, and we limit access to your personal information to Be Active North Carolina, Inc. employees who we believe need to see that information to provide you with services or otherwise do their jobs. However, no physical or electronic security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the security of our servers or databases, nor can we guarantee that the information that you supply to us won't be intercepted during transmission over the Internet. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your BetterHealthNC.com account, especially on a shared computer, by logging out when you are finished using our site. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of member information at any time
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
Because the web is an evolving medium, we may need to change our Privacy Policy at some point in the future, in which case we'll post the changes to this Privacy Policy on this Web site and update the Effective Date of the policy to reflect the date of the changes.
